Privacy Policy
What LEAF collects, why, who sees it, and the controls you have.
LEAF ("LEAF," "we," "us") is a single-player cigar journal for iPhone. The data controller responsible for your information is Kevin Washington (an individual), reachable at privacy@leafcigars.fyi.
Your account. When you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and an email address — which may be an Apple private relay address that hides your real one. To confirm you're old enough (see §4), we collect your date of birth once; it's stored to enforce the age gate and is never shown to anyone.
Your journal. The cigars you log and everything you add to them: ratings, written reviews, tasting-note tags, an optional photo, the places you type ("where smoked" / "where bought"), and price. This is your private content.
Usage & device. With your consent (see §5), anonymous product-analytics events describing which features you use — never your journal content — plus basic app/device info and a coarse country derived from your IP address.
LEAF is for adults 21 and older. Your date of birth is used solely to verify this, is enforced on our server, and is never displayed. LEAF is not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect data from, anyone under 21.
We use PostHog (a US-based analytics provider) to understand product usage. It is content-free by design: it records actions and counts, never your written reviews, your rating values, your photos, or precise locations.
If you turn on "Share cigar insights" (off by default), we create de-identified, aggregate statistics from ratings and the cigars people log — for example, a cigar's average rating, or how often a line is logged in a given city. This information is aggregated to city level at most and does not identify you individually. We may share or sell it to partners in the cigar industry for their own market research.
We never share your written reviews, your photos, your individual logs, or your precise location. You can turn this on or off anytime in Settings, and it is separate from the analytics choice in §5.
We do not sell your personal, identifiable information.

Data is encrypted in transit. Every record is protected by row-level security that scopes it to your account, and your photos live in private, per-user storage that no other user can read. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
We keep your data while your account is active and delete it when you delete your account. De-identified aggregate statistics, which do not identify you, may persist after deletion.
LEAF is not intended for anyone under 21. LEAF is operated from the United States and your information is processed there. We may update this policy and will post the new effective date; material changes will be surfaced in the app. Questions or requests: privacy@leafcigars.fyi.
The agreement between you and LEAF for using the app.
By creating an account or using LEAF, you agree to these Terms. You must be 21 or older and able to form a binding contract. If you don't agree, don't use LEAF.
LEAF is a personal journal for recording cigars you've smoked — a lifestyle and record-keeping tool. LEAF does not sell tobacco, facilitate the purchase of tobacco, or provide medical or health advice. "Where bought" and price fields are informational notes for your own records, never a transaction.
You sign in with Apple. You're responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to your Apple ID secure. Tell us promptly of any unauthorized use.
Your logs, notes, and photos are yours. To operate LEAF, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to store, process, and display that content to you as part of the service. Only if you opt in to "Share cigar insights," you also permit us to include your ratings and logged cigars in the de-identified, aggregate statistics described in the Privacy Policy §6. You confirm you have the rights to any content you add, including photographs.
LEAF's cigar catalog is shared reference data. If you add a cigar the catalog is missing, its factual details (brand, line, wrapper, etc.) enter the shared catalog for everyone; your opinions (rating, review, tasting notes, photo) stay on your private log and are never written into the shared catalog.
Don't misuse LEAF: no unlawful use, no scraping or automated bulk access, no attempts to break security or access others' data, and no uploading content you don't have the rights to or that is unlawful.
LEAF is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. Catalog information may be incomplete or inaccurate and is not a guarantee about any product. LEAF is not medical or health advice, and it makes no claim about the safety of tobacco. Tobacco use carries serious health risks.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, LEAF and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and total liability is limited to US$100. You agree to indemnify LEAF for claims arising from content you add or your misuse of the service.
You can stop using LEAF and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access for violations of these Terms. We may update these Terms; if we make material changes we'll surface them in the app, and continued use means you accept them.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Questions: support@leafcigars.fyi.
